Fast forward to June, and oh my goodness I just don't have enough words to describe how amazing their wedding was! From groom prep with the guys who were totally laid back and couldn't stop laughing, to bridal prep with the girls (I do love this part - all the makeup, hair, dresses and jewels get my creative mind buzzing!), to the beautiful, touching ceremony itself at their local Kingdom Hall, to the abundance of lovely family and friends who posed for group shots, to Jess and Tom themselves, who were absolute models during their couple session (the connection they have exceeds something way beyond their years) to the amazing Thai food, to the tear-jerking, belly-laughing speeches, and finally their sweet first dance. ALL of it was perfection.Read More
A beautifully modern renovated 17th-century barn, set in the gorgeous Suffolk countryside, this place is both picturesque and the perfect location to throw a party. With the ability to accommodate twenty people in eight luxurious bedrooms, and six bathrooms (five en-suite) each hand decorated with interior design even Lawrence Llewellyn Bowen would be envious of, not to mention an indoor swimming pool and outdoor hot tub, Liberty House Luxury Retreat is truly the place to relax with a glass of champagne!Read More
The family travelled over an hour to come and see me, and we explored Highwoods Country Park, here in Colchester where I live. It is one of my favourite spots for sessions, plus I like the challenge of always trying to find new parts within the forest!. It was a super warm day, and the Chandrasiri's were so organised that they even brought multiple outfit choices with them - oh how I excited I was! I LOVE an organised family and the different outfit choices were amazing. I tell you, Mira and Marianna both do a fabulous job of co-ordinating outfits for their bookings!
I decided to meet up with them to have a chat over a hot chocolate (no surprises there!) at one of my favourite little cafés, Sip and Tuck. Having ordered my coconut milk hot chocolate, I pondered around the corner to find them sat there awaiting me. Within a few moments and hello's, a waitress peered round and asked if I wanted the vegan hot chocolate, so I said yes! Off she went again, which prompted 'are you vegan too?!' from Georgie and Amalaketu. 'Yes I am!' I said. Turns out they were too, and they'd been looking for vegan wedding suppliers because they too, are vegan! If that's not fate - I don't know what is!Read More
Mortehoe in North Devon isn't somewhere I've only just discovered. Oh no. Although, it is somewhere I have discovered fairly recently...Read More
Just over a week ago, I took a little break and drove down to the South of Wales with my aunt and uncle, to see my cousin, who I hadn't seen in over a year since she moved to the area (and I can totally see why she doesn't want to move back!) I then travelled down to North Devon for a few days, but I will post about that later!
When I met up with Rhiannon and Will on Christmas Eve of last year, they told me of their non-traditional, vintage-twist low-key wedding plans. These two were not about having a big, over the top wedding, and focused more on having a small, intimate get together with family and friends, which I absolutely adore in a wedding. I was most intrigued by their laid back nature, highlighted by their plans to get ready together, to walk to the ceremony location together, down the aisle together, and of course leave as husband and wife. Their laidback natures even rubbed off onto me, as I was asked quite a few times if I was friends of theirs. Although not quite, I always feel like I ultimately end up becoming friends with my couples!Read More
Amy was quite heavily pregnant at the time, and as the couple didn't want to do an engagement session, I offered to do newborn photographs instead! You could really tell that their family dynamic was so important to them, especially with son Hudson (who was super excited about having a little sibling!), so I was more than happy to do this instead!Read More
When Jess and Tom emailed me a few months back now, their wedding plans sounded right up my street. I rang them right away, and it felt almost like chatting with a friend rather than a potential client! Fast forward a few weeks, and we all met up for a hot chocolate in Starbucks in Norwich earlier this year, and, to no surprise, we got on really well immediately.Read More
Having undertaken the Gold Dust Project, a celebratory, body-positive project which had led me to meet mothers who had suffered with infertility issues, mothers with negative body relationships, and just generally mothers across a huge cross section in Essex, I felt even more compelled to reach out to Lindsey at Oh Little Bing. I had wanted to chat with her about photographing her pieces for such a long time, but the stars hadn't quite aligned... until now.Read More
When I found out about the beautiful new venue of Captains Wood Barn, situated in the Maldon countryside, I just knew I HAD to photograph there. As it was winter going into spring (obviously the best time to organise a shoot - not!), weddings were not in full swing, so I, along with my florist friend Kelly of Miss Fleur Floral Design, decided to put together our very own boho, romantic wedding... With a twist... We only used carnations for the entire shoot, and we had 800 of them to be precise!Read More
So, you're thinking of getting married abroad?! How fabulous!
Before I dive into telling you about my AMAZING offer of shooting your destination wedding for free (yes, REALLY!), let's have a chat about why you might bring a UK photographer (particularly me, an Essex-based alternative wedding photographer!) along on your travels!Read More
Having had a traditional Hindu blessing in Bali, a place Amanda considers her spiritual home, their formal wedding in the UK was to be a relatively intimate affair, in the candle-lit Hedingham Castle. They celebrated with 40 of their closest friends and family, and many of the guests had travelled far and wide for the celebrations! All of the ladies wore white, in-keeping with the beautiful Amanda - they all looked divine!
I've shot Noi's when he was still in his mum's tummy, then shot his newborn photos, and finally I got to see him and his mum and dad again at the very end of last year. I cannot believe how he is now almost half of my height! I didn't get a chance to blog their sweet session at the time as I was in the process of moving over to a new website host, so I thought why not reminisce on their chilly winter family session now?!Read More
I loved photographing these guys, and it was the perfect place to let off some steam for their eldest son and their pup too! It was windy but warm, one of those stormy summer evenings, and it was such a blast getting to know them and exploring the area more than I had done before!Read More
Allow me to introduce you to two of my lovely and oldest friends, Lauren and Dylan. Lauren, Dylan and I go way back, in fact, we all went to school together when I lived in Devon! Since then, the two have fallen in love, are currently engaged to be married, and have two absolutely beautiful little ones, Kaylah and Tommy.
There is actually a bit of a funny story towards me finding out Lauren was pregnant again with Tommy...Read More
Katie and Jono had the perfect little girl, Flossie, and what a cutie she is (you'll get to see her in a minute!) But sadly, her first few months on the planet were met with illness, meaning that the family didn't have a chance to do those family portraits they envisioned in the early days. Thankfully, Flossie soon became a lot better, so we headed to the beautiful Arger Fen on the Essex and Suffolk border for their family photographs when she turned around six months old.Read More
I for one, can right away say that mirrorless cameras have changed my life and career as a photographer...Read More
Gabrielle and I agreed to meet just under where Dippy the Dinosaur used to live (now replaced by Hope the Whale), and, despite us entering the museum from two different directions, and having never met before, as we are both around the 5ft tall mark, we managed to miraculously find one another!Read More
From Josh's marvel-themed wedding cake, bow tie, and cufflinks, to flowers hand co-ordinated by her mum, sister and Bryony herself, to the most gorgeous boho gown I've laid eyes upon, to meeting up with old friends, to hopping over a high fence in her wedding dress and trekking in a local field for couple photos ten minutes before sunset, to the father of the bride being given shots (home made might I add!) to get through his speech, to the most wonderful father-daughter first dance followed by Bryony and Josh's first dance itself... Oh my, this day was just beautiful. I'll leave you with the photos, and I am sure you too will be swooning!Read More
