Tess and Adam's Intimate Colchester Town Wedding Previews | Grace Elizabeth | Colchester, Essex Alternative Wedding and Lifestyle Photographer
When an enquiry flew into my inbox last week about a wedding happening this week, I couldn’t quite believe my eyes. ‘A wedding, next week?!’ I thought. ‘Is that right?! This must be the most short notice enquiry I’ve ever received!’ But no, it was correct, Tess and Adam really were getting married in a week’s time!
Joan, Tess’ mum, had enquired about finding a photographer for her daughter and son-in-law’s intimate wedding and it seemed to be fate that her enquiry landed in my inbox of all of the Essex based photographers, since she even has a grand daughter called Grace Elizabeth!
After a few emails back and forth, we arranged a FaceTime call, where we chatted about the plans for the day. Tess and her mum were actually from California, and Tess and her long distance fiancé Adam, originally from Essex, had decided to get married at relatively short notice, in an intimate ceremony in Colchester Town Hall, followed by a reception at Greyfriars. The couple had met whilst Adam was working in the US a few years ago, and after dealing with 5000 miles of distance, three years of togetherness, and a baby girl together, they decided that it was finally time to get married.
The day was to be super tiny, with just their closest family attending, as the couple plan to have a reception back in the US and it was a super chilled out, laid back day.
I began the day at Greyfriars, photographing Tess’ beautiful details. She was so laid back about the entire thing that her hair and makeup had even been done before I arrived, so I set to work photographing all of the beautiful bits she had put together (including her gorgeous Calla Blanche dress, which she squished into a carry on all the way from California!) In the words of Tess, ‘do you thing, girl!’ and she stuck true to her word, and just let me get on with everything!
The ceremony was held at Colchester Town Hall, and the day unravelled so smoothly. It was so lovely witnessing them get married, and exploring the Castle Park for a few photos before I departed and let them go and grab their dinner. Joan even gave me a little box of sweets which she had brought all the way from California as a thank you, which really is a testament to how wonderful of a family they are!
Thank you, Joan, Tess and Adam for having me be a part of such a special day. You are all wonderful!
