Amy and Ross' Orsett Church Wedding and Relaxed Boho Garden Reception | Grace Elizabeth, Colchester, Essex, Devon, Suffolk and Norfolk Alternative Wedding and Family Photographer

Yesterday I had the pleasure of witnessing Amy and Ross get married in Orsett, in what was to be a beautiful, relaxed day.

Beside for the ceremony at their local church, which was really wonderful and also quite modern, Amy and Ross didn’t stick too much to tradition! Gone were the photos of Amy and the girls having their hair and makeup being done, there were no speeches or sit down meal as such - everyone just came along to what was effectively a big party!

It was such a glorious September day too, we really couldn’t have asked for better weather, I think it caught a lot of us by surprise! Everyone there was so welcoming too, it really felt like being at a friend’s wedding, whilst photographing away (a.k.a. the best kind of wedding!)

After the church ceremony in the late afternoon, followed by a few formal photos (one of which involved me climbing onto a guest’s shoulders for, yes, I will do anything for a good photo!) Amy and Ross walked their way to their reception at Ross’ brother’s house, stopped on the way by the landlady of the local pub who came out bearing two drinks for them. Ross’ brothers garden meanwhile had had been transformed into an outdoor reception many local venues would envy! From a big marquee with beautiful boho blush details to match the bridesmaid’s dresses, to wheelbarrows full of drinks, a free bar (yay!), and later on a grazing table from the girls at Fig and Feast, it was pretty much everything you could’ve wanted and more!

In the evening whilst everyone was enjoying their drinks, or perhaps a pie from the London Pie and Mash Company or fish and chips from Fritto and Via, I snuck away with the couple for a few photos whilst the sun was setting - and what a treat the world gave us! It was beyond glorious. As we opened the back gates to the road in front of us, we were met with a blinding sunset that was absolutely stunning, and so worth pulling the newlyweds aside for!

So, it goes without saying now, thank you Amy and Ross for having me be a part of your beautiful wedding day, and I really hope that you will love the preview photos!
