Philippa and Mark's Decadent Autumnal Gatsby Wedding Previews at Holmewood Hall | Grace Elizabeth, Colchester, Essex, Devon, Suffolk And Norfolk Alternative Wedding And Family Photographer
I feel like I begin every wedding previews blog post like this… but how do I begin to even explain how beautiful this wedding was?!
Yesterday I headed to the beautiful Holmewood Hall for the very first time. It’s a stunningly decadent venue owned by the same people as Gosfield Hall, which is one of my favourite local venues, and just a stones throw from my house! Well, in the spirit of the beautiful Gosfield Hall, Holmewood Hall was just as gorgeous, with not a single detail forgotten. It was like walking into a home from Downton Abbey, and the couple absolutely complimented it to a T as well!
I first met Philippa and Mark in June for their pre wedding session in Brighton, where they had got engaged. The couple initially met as young university students in Sussex, where they soon developed a liking for one another. Despite Philippa adamantly maintaining that ‘It’s never going to work!’ and a lot of ‘We’re just friends!’, it seemed that after a bit of initial persuading from Mark, it really could work! Now, here we are ten years later at Holmewood Hall celebrating their stunning wedding day.
I feel as though not a single detail was forgotten at this wedding. It was a fusion of their English and Scottish roots, with two families merging as one. Everything was co-ordinated, from the colour scheme, to the tiniest details (such as Philippa’s ‘morse code’ friendship bracelets for her bridesmaids), to the rose and thistle to pay homage to their backgrounds, to even the fact that Philippa’s wedding dress came with a slip dress underneath, which she plans to re-use for another occasion. Oh how I love someone as thrifty as me!
The day itself was gorgeous. Despite rain expected, it managed to hold off for us until the evening, so that we could celebrate their beautiful autumnal wedding in the sunshine and enjoy the Cha Cha Slide and Macarena on the dance floor in the evening. It was like a 90s party and I loved it! I can’t really explain how much I loved yesterday, so I am really just going to let the photos speak for themselves, but there is one thing I do have to say.
Thank you, Philippa, Mark, your family and friends, for making me feel so incredibly welcomed. You went above and beyond to look after me as more than just a supplier, you treated me as a friend. You were up for getting out in the freezing cold weather (yes, that photo outside of the house where Mark is dipping Philippa was FREEZING to photograph!), to encouraging me to stretch my creative wings, to just generally being incredible. I am so grateful for clients like you, you make my job entirely worth every second!
I hope that you’ll love this snippet from the day, it was no easy task cutting 12 hours down into 60 photos!
