Post-Wedding Sessions | The Clark Family | Grace Elizabeth, Colchester, Essex Alternative Wedding Photographer
This blog post is going to be introducing something new to you - my post wedding sessions! I am so excited to launch these, because I think they might just be a huge game changer (not to mention a stress reliever!) when it comes to the formal photos on your wedding day.
When Rhia and James booked me to do their wedding photography back in the July heatwave (which feels like an eternity away now!) we knew we might have a bit of a struggle. Their winter ceremony at Crabbs Barn was booked for a 3pm finish, and the light was going by 3:30pm - on a good day… (Oh December light, how I despise you!) Coupled with a sleepy baby who missed out on all of the photos, and ominous clouds which looked like they might downpour at any moment, it was critical that we got their photos done - and pronto!
Rhia and James were amazing when it came to organising everyone for the formal photos, and Crabbs Barn were also wonderful in setting aside an organised timeline for us to get all of the photos we needed, however, we knew we still wouldn’t have much time to get everything we wanted. We actually only had half an hour to get not just all of their couple photos done, but the ever important formal photos too! You can usually easily set aside an hour for all of these photos, and that’s based on sticking to a timeline with a military approach (which practically never happens!)
Thus came about the post-wedding session!
A few weeks later, after the Christmas festivities had been put aside, Rhia, James and the boys got back in their wedding get ups, and we headed back to Crabbs Barn for a two hour photo session, with just them. No distractions. No rush. Just a relaxed family session.
It was absolutely wonderful. The weather was almost the same (which was SO helpful because the photos look super consistent), the boys were more focused (I have definitely made a new friend in their eldest!) and it definitely meant we could get all of the photos they’d been desperately looking for.
So, I hope you will love these. If you’d like to consider a post-wedding session, whether to frolic around in your bridal clothes again, to capture those all important family photos, or just for a bit of fun, do let me know at your wedding consultation and I can explain the process!
