The weddings I have been shooting recently have all been absolutely gorgeous and this one was no exception! Every single wedding has had it’s own theme, quirks, and every group of people I’ve met have been wonderful from start to finish, so let’s get onto sharing this absolute gem, shall we?!Read More
When an enquiry flew into my inbox last week about a wedding happening this week, I couldn’t quite believe my eyes. ‘A wedding, next week?!’ I thought. ‘Is that right?! This must be the most short notice enquiry I’ve ever received!’ But no, it was correct, Tess and Adam really were getting married in a week’s time!
Joan, Tess’ mum, had enquired about finding a photographer for her daughter and son-in-law’s intimate wedding and it seemed to be fate that her enquiry landed in my inbox of all of the Essex based photographers, since she even has a grand daughter called Grace Elizabeth!Read More
Oh the Beckswith’s… where do I begin with these two? Ever since we spoke on the phone for the very first time, Steph said ‘What you see is what you get, okay? You’re not easily offended, are you?’ ‘Of course not!’ I replied. I have to say, it’s a good job I’m not because this pair are true to their word… I absolutely didn’t expect the ‘c word’ to adorn the top of the wedding cake (yes, really, scroll down!) and the middle finger to be one of their favourite poses - absolutely had me in stitches (and both events go down as some highlights in my career!) I absolutely loved how chilled they were as a couple and it meant that the day was so relaxed too!Read More
Hayley and Sam were absolute stars when it came to doing their pre wedding session on a baking hot Bank Holiday Monday in the middle of an extremely busy beach! But these two shy lovebirds didn’t let that bother them, and we had a whale of a time frolicking down on Cudmore Grove’s beach front amongst passers-by definitely wondering what we were doing, and definitely eyeing up Hayley’s beautiful (not to mention on-brand) golden gown! (Ladies, it’s from New Look if you’re wondering - I just had to ask!)Read More
I was at a service station on my way to a shoot when an email popped into my inbox from fellow photographer Yuliya, who is based in Oman, just last year. I can’t tell you how excited I was to read it. The fact that someone halfway across the globe had found my work, was a photographer themselves, and considered my work the exact style they were looking for for their english spring elopement was just the best feeling!Read More
What an absolute year 2018 was. It was the year I went from doing photography on the side, to going fully self employed, and for that, I am so very grateful. 2018 gave me the opportunity to photograph the most amazing weddings and lifestyle sessions, and to meet so many amazing people. It was a year full of love, I started the #GoldDustProject, I photographed quite a few charity events and I documented a few eco friendly vegan events too. So here it is, a round up of the best moments of 2018!Read More
If you headed down to the University of Essex this Sunday, it would’ve been hard to miss the hundred of people armed with yoga mats, reusable cutlery and yoga leggings making their way onto the grounds! To celebrate World Vegan Month, the University became host to Essex's first Yoga and Vegan Festival, organised by Yogific. The festival consisted of all-day long Yoga and meditation classes, talks, workshops, classes for children, yummy vegan food and ethical shopping (which we all know I love!) Besides local yoga teachers, teachers from various locations taught on the day, including the lovely Scarlet Pigot, from Ireland and Tara Ubachs, from the Netherlands, along with various teachers heading down fro London and Cambridgeshire.Read More
So, here's a funny story... I used to actually go to school with Emily-May, who booked this family session with me to celebrate her mum's birthday... But I hadn't seen Emily in almost ten years! It was so surreal to catch up with her and meet the rest of her family, and what a fun session this was!
When I first met Sarah and Paul last year, I was welcomed at the door by the pair of them, trying to battle their way through two excitable dogs and puppies. Apologies and uncontrollable big dogs out of the way (I know the feeling well!) I knew right away we would get on well! I can't believe a year has passed and yesterday was their wedding day!Read More
So today on the blog, I have something a little different to my norm... It's an exciting guest feature from Guides for Brides! I have been featured on their blog before with one of my real weddings, so of course it made sense for them to do a little feature here to share - because sharing is caring in this industry! As many of you know, I travel across the UK and the world, and these are a few venues I would love to shoot in!
Okay, this post is a total throwback, but can we talk about the time I got to photograph REAL LIFE MERMAIDS?! I am so stoked to be really good friends with Kerenza Sapphire (known to her less-finned friends as Carla), the mermaid (lady!) who runs Mermaiding UK, and who made this girl's dream come true! I mean, who doesn't wanna work with REAL MERMAIDS?!
When the Parker's got in touch with me a little while ago about booking their extended family session, I was super excited, because the session was going to be a surprise! Elizabeth's mum was celebrating her birthday the day of the shoot, and the day after, her parents were celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary, so it was such a lovely gesture to book the session for those reasons! It made it even more special!
The family travelled over an hour to come and see me, and we explored Highwoods Country Park, here in Colchester where I live. It is one of my favourite spots for sessions, plus I like the challenge of always trying to find new parts within the forest!. It was a super warm day, and the Chandrasiri's were so organised that they even brought multiple outfit choices with them - oh how I excited I was! I LOVE an organised family and the different outfit choices were amazing. I tell you, Mira and Marianna both do a fabulous job of co-ordinating outfits for their bookings!
When I met up with Rhiannon and Will on Christmas Eve of last year, they told me of their non-traditional, vintage-twist low-key wedding plans. These two were not about having a big, over the top wedding, and focused more on having a small, intimate get together with family and friends, which I absolutely adore in a wedding. I was most intrigued by their laid back nature, highlighted by their plans to get ready together, to walk to the ceremony location together, down the aisle together, and of course leave as husband and wife. Their laidback natures even rubbed off onto me, as I was asked quite a few times if I was friends of theirs. Although not quite, I always feel like I ultimately end up becoming friends with my couples!Read More
Amy was quite heavily pregnant at the time, and as the couple didn't want to do an engagement session, I offered to do newborn photographs instead! You could really tell that their family dynamic was so important to them, especially with son Hudson (who was super excited about having a little sibling!), so I was more than happy to do this instead!Read More
When Jess and Tom emailed me a few months back now, their wedding plans sounded right up my street. I rang them right away, and it felt almost like chatting with a friend rather than a potential client! Fast forward a few weeks, and we all met up for a hot chocolate in Starbucks in Norwich earlier this year, and, to no surprise, we got on really well immediately.Read More
Having undertaken the Gold Dust Project, a celebratory, body-positive project which had led me to meet mothers who had suffered with infertility issues, mothers with negative body relationships, and just generally mothers across a huge cross section in Essex, I felt even more compelled to reach out to Lindsey at Oh Little Bing. I had wanted to chat with her about photographing her pieces for such a long time, but the stars hadn't quite aligned... until now.Read More
When I found out about the beautiful new venue of Captains Wood Barn, situated in the Maldon countryside, I just knew I HAD to photograph there. As it was winter going into spring (obviously the best time to organise a shoot - not!), weddings were not in full swing, so I, along with my florist friend Kelly of Miss Fleur Floral Design, decided to put together our very own boho, romantic wedding... With a twist... We only used carnations for the entire shoot, and we had 800 of them to be precise!Read More
Having had a traditional Hindu blessing in Bali, a place Amanda considers her spiritual home, their formal wedding in the UK was to be a relatively intimate affair, in the candle-lit Hedingham Castle. They celebrated with 40 of their closest friends and family, and many of the guests had travelled far and wide for the celebrations! All of the ladies wore white, in-keeping with the beautiful Amanda - they all looked divine!
I've shot Noi's when he was still in his mum's tummy, then shot his newborn photos, and finally I got to see him and his mum and dad again at the very end of last year. I cannot believe how he is now almost half of my height! I didn't get a chance to blog their sweet session at the time as I was in the process of moving over to a new website host, so I thought why not reminisce on their chilly winter family session now?!Read More
